Support to Navigate Life’s Challenges

When personal or professional challenges become hard to manage alone, counselling can help you move forward. Whether you are facing burnout, navigating a major life change, or simply feeling “stuck,” you don’t have to figure it out on your own.

I provide a confidential, judgement-free space where we work together to understand what is getting in the way and develop practical ways forward, at a pace that feels right for you.

How I can help

I work with individuals (youth and adults) experiencing a range of personal, emotional, and work-related challenges, including:

  • Managing anxiety, low mood, or the pressures of everyday life.

  • Navigating workplace stress, burnout, and professional challenges.

  • Adjusting to life transitions and "what now?" moments.

  • Working through relationship challenges, communication difficulties, or feelings of disconnection.

  • Finding a way forward when you feel frustrated, isolated, or stuck.

  • Processing grief, bereavement, or other significant life events.

I support clients with a broad range of concerns; however, I do not provide specialist services for ACC-related claims, PTSD, or addiction.

Evening sessions are available for those with busy schedules or living out of town.

About me

Jonathan Casbolt MNZAC

I am a professionally trained and registered counsellor with over 8 years of experience supporting youth and adults through life’s challenges. I hold a Diploma in Professional Counselling and a Diploma in Applied Mental Health, and I am a full member of the New Zealand Association of Counsellors (NZAC). My background includes work in private practice, Employee Assistance Programmes (EAP), and relief counselling in high school settings.

My philosophy and approach

Counselling is a collaborative process. I aim to offer a calm, respectful space where you can speak openly without judgement. My work is person-centred and draws on practical approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused practice, and strengths-based work.

Sessions are guided by what matters most to you. Some people come for support with a specific issue over a short period; others choose longer-term counselling. We will work at a pace that feels manageable and appropriate for your situation.

Your Privacy and Safety

As a member of the New Zealand Association of Counsellors (NZAC) I adhere to their Code of Ethics. Your privacy is paramount, especially in a small community. Everything you share is treated with confidentiality.

In rare situations, I may need to share information if your safety, or the safety of someone else, is at serious risk. If this ever happens, I will aim to discuss it with you first whenever possible.
